HMS Drake
14100 ton heavy cruiser torpedoed by U-79 on 2nd October 1917.
Lying in 18 metres of water in Church Bay, Rathlin Island.
Wreck is well broken up, having been salvaged and blown up several times by
the Royal Navy.
Diving conditions are good with weak tidal streams and good visibility.
SS Lochgarry
Government transport formerly of MacBrayne's Hebrides fleet struck rocks off
the Mull of Kintyre and drifted, finally sinking off the east coast of Rathlin
on 21st January 1942.
Lying in 33 metres of water, upright and intact.
Strong tidal streams ensure excellent visibility, but restrict diving to slack
water periods.
SS Santa Maria
US Registered oil tanker torpedoed by UB-19 on 25th February 1918.
Lying in 66 metres of water off Fair Head.
Wreck lies on her side intact 50 metres to the top rail.
Strong tidal streams ensure excellent visibility, but restrict diving to slack
water periods; only recommended for experienced divers.
SS Templemore
Sank in Ballycastle Bay on 6th December 1911 in heavy weather.
Lying in 18 metres of water, well broken up.
This wreck is inhabited by several tame conger eels which may be hand fed
by divers.
Diving conditions are good with weak tidal streams.
